Secondary school class sizes cut

This article talked about the education of Hong Kong. Our Chief Executive, Donald Tsang pledged in his policy address to introduce small-class teaching in secondary and primary school in October last year. The education minister announced long-awaiting reductions in the size of classes in secondary schools will begin next year last Thursday. The maximum size of Form One classes reduced from 40 to 38 next year and to 36 in 2010. Each school must admit enough Form One students to fill three classes, otherwise, the school may need to closure.

After reading this article, I think cutting class into small size is a good idea because there will be more classes to keep schools open, more control leads to acudemic perforance and more equal classes. Teachers also don't need to mark too many books and don't need to take care many students, only takes care of 25 students.

However, there are few problems on it such as schools may need more space and resorces for students, students can only meet very few friends and more ineffective teaches teaching. In the famous schools, they may think breaking the big classes into small classes will make the numbers of students who get top results decrease. Therefore, I think the government may need to arrange this carefully.
